South Korea's local governments are expanding their overseas medial care share programs.

Officials from the Incheon City government visited a home on the outskirts of the Kazakhstan capital of Almaty.

Their visit aimed to check the young patient's health condition and family circumstances. She is scheduled to come to South Korea next month.

She has been suffering from epilepsy since her birth. However, she is known to have never been treated due to poor family background.

"I've been worried about my daughter a lot. I appreciate a lot that she now can get medical treatment in Korea."

As seen in this program, overseas medical care share programs by South Korea's local governments have been increasingly active.

In addition, the local governments have been expanding the scope of their medical aid projects. They also discuss ways with foreign government authorities to bolster such supports.

"Making use of the Incheon International Airport and the Port of Incheon, as well as the medical infrastructure, the city will explore future growth engines in the medical-tourism industry."

The local governments expect that the expansion of overseas medical care share programs would lead to more vivid exchanges with their potential foreign partners in other business sectors.
